ENCHANTÉE, LABRET

A high-end piercing studio in Hong Kong might be my new addiction

If you’re anything like me, then knowing the meaning of a brand’s name is as important as the product. A name is a first impression, a promise, a signifier. So, when I stumbled upon LABRET in Hong Kong, I took to the internet to learn more. A quick Google search reveals that ‘labret’ (pronounced lay-brit) refers to an ornamental lip piercing, typically with shell, bone, or stone. While that sounds traditional or unapproachable, the Hong Kong shop, by contrast, is modern and welcoming.

WHAT IS LABRET?

Opened in 2025, LABRET is a piercing studio and jewelry store. They offer piercings in 9 locations, including: lobe, helix, mid-helix, forward helix, conch, tragus, flat, faux rook, and nostril. This is a strictly needle-only piercing location, which compared to piercing guns, I’m told by the store clerk, promotes a quicker healing time and straighter piercing.

As of the time of this blog post, LABRET only sells earrings (flatbacks and hoops). They are anti-butterfly backs as flatbacks are considered more comfortable and safer on the neck behind the ear. Their products are constructed with a variety of materials: titanium, sterling silver, rhodium, and solid 14K gold. The stones on their earrings are crystals. The last thing I’ll add is that they conveniently offer all of their earrings as a single or pair, which allows you to create a highly customizable ear stack.

PIERCING SERVICE

If you want to visit LABRET for their piercing services, walk-ins and online reservations are both welcome. Although given the fact that there are only two piercing chairs, I’d recommend making an appointment if you’re on a tight schedule.

From my experience, you will have to e-sign a waiver and present an ID before getting your piercing. The staff member will then use a marker to dot where the earring will go and pass you a stress ball to squeeze while the piercer gets to work.

Their staff is very welcoming and patient; I personally asked at least ten questions and requested her to move the piercing dot multiple times before I was happy with it.

The prices for piercings are fixed by the number of piercings (as opposed to location). LABRET currently provides 1 piercing for $500 HKD, 2 piercings for $800 HKD, 3 piercings for $1,200 HKD, and 4 piercings for $1,600 HKD.

It is important to note that the piercing jewelry is NOT included in the above prices. However, included with every piercing is a printout copy of aftercare instructions, a free downsize appointment (where they give you a shorter earring post), complimentary checkups, and a disinfectant spray.

WHAT HAVE I BOUGHT?

When I first discovered the brand last year, I bought the ‘8mm Mini Pave Huggies’ as a pair in gold as well as the ‘10mm Pave Huggies’ as a pair in gold. If you’re asking yourself, ‘aren’t those just the same thing in slightly different sizes?’ The answer is yes; yes they are. I couldn’t make a snap decision so I bought both.

Recently I went in for my second piercings and bought the ‘Dangle Crystal Flatback’ as a pair in gold. These were my piercing studs. Additionally, I picked up the ‘Crystal Heart Huggies’ as a pair in silver. Trust me when I say they are SO sparkly and look way more expensive than they are!

CLOSING REMARKS

The ease of the piercing-process and skillful maneuvering of the piercers makes LABRET a shop I am itching to return to. Browsing their sister Instagram page, @clublabret, for ear stack inspiration, I fear I am very close to returning for the ‘Crown Marquise Flatback’ on the flat of my ear.

Since the shop opened in 2025, LABRET has undergone a slight rebrand. The once cherry red color scheme has been replaced with a mature deep maroon shade. In addition to the color change, the logo has evolved from an all-caps, angular font to a lower-case rounder variation. The packaging, most notably, also got an upgrade. The new jewelry boxes are reminiscent of APM Monaco’s with a ribbon that wraps around to the top of the box. These subtle changes have subtly transformed LABRET into a modern, cool shop that feels trendy yet personal. If you’ve visited the shop in the past, I’d recommend going back to check it out!

Shop LABRET from 11AM to 8PM daily at the following location

2 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong
